Sterling Silver, how to identify and clean
This guide will help you learn to identify quality in silver jewelry and accessories.
Sterling Silver
Pure silver, also called fine silver, is relatively soft, very malleable, easily scratched and what is commonly combined with other metals to produce a more durable product. The most popular of these alloys is sterling silver, which consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Although any metal can make 7.5% not part of the silver of sterling, centuries of experimentation have shown copper to improve the best metal hardness and durability without affecting its beautiful color.
The small amount of copper added to sterling has very little effect on the value of the metal. In contrast, the price of silver, the subject is affected by the work required to make the item, the skill of the craftsman, and design complexity.
Identifying Quality Sterling Silver
All items are high quality silver seal a "Sterling Silver" or "925" mark. This mark identifies the precious metal content of jewelry.
Silver Alloys
Because the silver pure is so soft, that should only be used when malleability is required, such as handmade jewelry with fabric and other intricate designs. Sterling Silver is most commonly used for jewelry and household accessories because of its combination of beauty and durability. Acceptable quality marks for sterling silver include:

Care
With proper care, its high quality silver for life. To minimize scratches and other damage, store your jewelry silver either in a cloth bag or in a separate compartment in your jewelry box. Avoid exposing your silver to household chemicals when cleaning with bleach or ammonia, or swimming in chlorinated water as these chemicals can damage silver.
Regularly clean your silver!
We also need to be taken to prevent silver tarnish the accumulation of an override that occurs naturally when silver reacts with sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in the surrounding air. To clean silver, use of formulas with regard to eliminating tarnishing. You can find fine silver polishes, solutions, or cloth designed to remove tarnish. These are available in most hardware stores or specialty craft stores. Tarnish is easily removed when it becomes visible! So keep an eye out for it! Although lead their money is often the best way to prevent pigmentation of the building, regular cleanings of all silver items will prevent tarnish and keep its bright silver, bright and beautiful.
